Al Dvorin - A raconteur with a gentle soul, loved by all, at ease on any stage and famous for coining the phrase " Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building" has passed away at age 81. After viewing all the comments in his guest book and receiving many emails and phone calls from friends wanting to share a special memory, it was obvious to me that Al will be sadly missed and forever remembered. To those who were close to Al, please accept my heart felt sympathies. I had the pleasure of meeting Al at the Ottawa Elvis Fest in June of 2003. Though his reputation as a "tell it like it is kinda guy" had preceded him, it wasn't until I sat beside him and listened to quite a few stories, that I realized I was hearing a true voice of wisdom and experience. Make no mistake, while commenting on any topic, AL didn't have a mean word to say about anyone and he could crack a joke or talk about an experience that would have you in stitches! So I just wanted to let you all know that I too will miss that dear, sweet man who managed to endeared himself to the Elvis public, and to those who never had the good fortune of meeting Al, please read his guest book and you will get an idea of how much he was respected. Rest in peace Al.
