A theater in the Cultural Center of a Montreal suburb played host to a matinee and evening Elvis Tribute show on May 6th. The word on the street was that the show was a must see, especially because of the band, so off we were to review it! An excited chatter could be heard as people rushed in to find their seats before the house lights were dimmed, but once in darkness, only a murmur of anticipation could be heard. Once the musicians had taken their places on the stage, a beautiful array of lights were displayed and the show fans were eagerly awaiting unfolded! The 50's era was the first set's theme as the "King Of Rock & Roll Tribute Band On Tour" played a few minutes of instrumental music as the introduction, before announcing Quebec ETA Scotty Davis. People cheered as Scotty began to sing their favorite tunes and the excitement heightened as the bands double bass player B.B. Lee's wildly animated performance had the crowd going crazy! B.B. slapped that bass, spun it around and even straddled it, never missing a note and smiling all the while! When he switched to electric bass for the 70's set, he still had the people cooking in their seats! The band's interaction was fantastic and they really seemed to enjoy playing E's music with authenticity. A very solid drummer Steve Caron kept perfect time while singing backup, and guitarist with a flair Bob Lavoie, who when he wasn't dancing across the stage, was also singing back up along with the lovely Mylene. When piano/synth player Gilles Renaud made his way to center stage to play a few sax solos, the entire audience was captivated! All that was left for ETA Scotty Davis to do was concentrate on his performance, simply enjoy the musicians and the music they played, charm the ladies as he sauntered down the aisles and excite the room while he was on stage - at least that's what his fans seemed to expect him to do! The second show, 70's theme, was also excellent and very well performed by both the musicians and Scotty. The venue's sound was fantastic - hats off to the sound crew! It was a very entertaining and beautiful performance by a fine ETA and a talented ETA band that left the obviously delighted Elvis fans in the house wanting more. So our thanks to Scotty Davis and the King Of Rock & Roll Tribute Band On Tour for giving us the chance to listen - fantastic work, we had a great time! Now LLM readers, we hope everyone will enjoy some of the pics of the show, Elvisly yours, Joanna
